Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 26th day of 2024.

We have $26,000.00 today.
10% savings = $2,600.00
40% taxes = $10,400.00: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support the Sabine National Forest. It is in the state of Texas. This National Forest was established in 1936. You will find among other wonders several varieties of hardwood tree groves including Beech, Lololly Pine, Longleaf Pine, Shortleaf Pine, White Oak, Southern Red oak, Sweetgum and Florida Maples. Indian Mounds is the only wilderness area to explore in this forest. Learn more here.

How will you be spending the remaining $13,000.00 today?

Joyful laughter fills the air as three women bask in a field of blooms on a sunny day.

HERE IS MY PLAN: Laugh with Friends

“The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.” – Matty Mullens

How are you showing up in the world?

Mother lost her best friend this week. She was 89. They had been friends for over 60 years. Mother has been telling stories and sharing memories about their friendship. For example, decades ago, mother and MaryKay went to a wake together. MaryKay was notorious for being late, so they were surprised to be the first guests to arrive for the event. A few family members stood in a small reception line to greet visitors. Mother and MaryKay proceeded to recount lifetime stories about their friend, how much they loved her, how often she made them laugh, and that her friendship was a treasured gift. The family was overwhelmed with joy to hear about how their person made the lives of others better. Next mother and MaryKay walked up to view the body in the open casket at the front of the viewing room. As the two of them peeked into the casket mother let out a tiny gasp and MaryKay burst into giggles. Uncontrollable giggles, so mother began to wail crying sounds to drown the laughter. Inside the casket lay a stranger.  They went to the wrong funeral home. A family member rushed up to give the ladies tissues to dry their eyes. Soon afterwards they said goodbye and thanked the family for sharing their person with the world.  Keeping the mistaken identity of their friend a secret.  This stranger’s memory has been alive in our family stories for over forty years and brings joyful laughter and reminders to be kind. How are you showing up in the world?

$100.00: for self-care. These dollars are for a new pillow to help me have sweeter dreams. And I love that!

$0.00 Priceless: Sharing humorous stories or making silly new memories with your friends. When was the last time you experienced a deep belly laugh that produced spontaneous tears dancing down your face? One of my favorite MaryKay stories as a child was the tale of a pet rabbit. MaryKay went for a weekend getaway to Sally’s house. At some point Sally decided to go grocery shopping. MaryKay stayed back to read a book and relax. Sally told MaryKay to help herself to anything that she may want, but do not let the pet rabbit out of its cage. On Sally’s return she saw little brown pellets on the couch cushions. “Oh, MaryKay, I asked you not to let that pet rabbit out of its cage! Look at the mess it created!” Without hesitation, MaryKay scooped the brown pellets up in her hand and ate them all! Sally gasped and MaryKay howled with laughter as she shook a box of raisins. Share your funny stories, laugh with your friends. Do it now. The world needs our joyful laughter ringing throughout the lands. Respond with love. Repeat. What would it take?

$11,900.00: This week I am choosing to support the continuing Harvard Medical School research projects on Adult Development. They have expanded the study to include children, women, and others in this multi- generational look at human happiness. The current research director and Professor of Psychiatry Robert Waldinsger said we have learned that “Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too. That, I think, is the surprise.”  Relationships protect our brains and body. And I love that! What makes a good life? Learn more here.

How open are you to living in a better world in 2024?

$1000.00: for a date with my husband. Since we are apart this week, every night we are talking on the phone to share stories about our day. We are finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. How much love can you stand?

FLOW FIVE FRIDAY: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.

$5.00:  this week’s five-dollar bill is inside a public library book titled “Raising Rabbits 101” by author Aaron G Webster. You might find me giggling with joy as I remember MaryKay telling me that rabbit story. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.

Five Increments of Time: This week I drove a friend to an appointment because she didn’t want to be alone. How are you “Flowing Five” this week?

Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time.

I am remembering joyful moments and sharing funny stories with my family. We are laughing together as we celebrate the wonderful life of MaryKay this week. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?

Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.

Do you know that traditional plastic packaging can be replaced with a seaweed-based alternative? A start up company in California called Sway is leading the way to designing products that collaborate with nature to create plastic free options.  What are you doing for the health of our planet? Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention:

This week I am supporting several of my friends who forwarded me a request from Mrs. Lawrence, a third-grade teacher in Oklahoma. Mrs. Lawrence’s Living Intention is to be a great teacher.  One way that you can help her third-grade class is to read her request and send a Valentine before the week of February 14th,2024. It was fun to create a homemade card and send it off with love to this group. Relationships matter. Here is the request: My third-grade class will be participating in an amazing project called “Hearts Across the World.” Our goal is to receive a Valentine from each of the 50 states and as many countries as possible. We have made a map of the United States and the World, as we get a Valentine, we will place a heart on our classroom map showing the state or country from which it was sent. For this project to be successful we need your help. Please send our class a Valentine card or postcard from your state or country. We will be eagerly waiting for your Valentines! We would love to receive them before February 14th, but we completely understand if they come a little later!

Thank you so much for your help with our class project! My class is soooo excited!

Send to: Madill Elementary 3rd Grade.
