Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 138th Day of 2024.
We have $138,000.00 today.
10% savings = $13,800.00
40% taxes = $55,200.00: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support the Stanislaus National Forest. It is in the state of California. This National Forest was established in 1897. You will find among other wonders a playground of recreation opportunities, the Stanislaus River and both the Emigrant as well as Carson-Iceberg wilderness areas to explore. Learn more here.
How will you be spending the remaining $69,000.00 today?
HERE IS MY PLAN: Bicycles and Books!
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving!” – Albert Einstein
How are you showing up in the world?
I hopped on two wheels this morning and peddled half a mile to the mailbox and back before sitting down at my home computer to write. When I was five years old my dad took the training wheels off Starlight, my royal blue bicycle. Luckily, we had a lush lawn to break my falls. It did not take long for me to find my balance, as well as freedom. I have fond memories of a neighborhood overflowing with children riding their bikes. We created many adventures with our trusty, wheeled steeds. When was the last time you rode a bike with friends? Today is the 68th National Ride Your Bike to Work-Day. This year’s theme is “Make Every Ride Count”. The League of American Bicyclists challenged the nation to ride their bike to work in May 1956. Biking is an alternative transportation choice, an environmental action statement for the wellbeing of earth, and simply a health regime for others. Then of course riding a bike can simply be fun. The wind is blowing through my hair as I race to the mailbox on two wheels.
How are you showing up in the world?
$100.00: for self-care. My bicycle is getting an annual tune-up. And I love that!
$0: Priceless: Bicycles and Books
“You are one ride away from a GOOD MOOD!” -Sarah Bentley
I invite you to consider riding your bike to a Little Free Library in your community. Drop off a book or take one to read. You might find me riding my bike, wearing a backpack stuffed with books to put into the Free Little Libraries in our community. This week marks the 15th anniversary of the first Free Little Library in the world. Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?
$64,400.00: I am contributing to two grassroots organizations. Each organization will receive $32,200. The first organization is in Denver, called Bikes Together. And the second is in Missoula, called Free Cycles. These dollars are supporting their Bike Distribution Programs. These programs inspire hope through providing alternative transportation to those in need. “Bikes Together programs redistribute lovingly refurbished adult bicycles through partnerships with community organizations.” Learn more here. Everyone can do something to make a difference. What if it is up to us? What can you choose now? Respond with love. How are you showing up in the world?
What are you contributing to live in a better world in 2024?
$1000.00: for a date with my husband. This week’s date includes participating in puppy kindergarten together. This class is about training humans more than puppies. Let the laughter begin! How loved can you stand it?
FLOW FIVE FRIDAY: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.
$5.00: This week’s five-dollar bill is inside the book called Sally Jean, the Bicycle Queen Written by Cari Best and illustrated by Christine Davenier. The book is currently somewhere inside a Free Little Library. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.
Five Increments of Time: I was on several calls this week, just listening to people tell their stories. Being there. How are you “Flowing Five” this week?
Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time.
When riding a bike, I wear a bike helmet to protect my brain.
What are you doing or not doing for self-care?
Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.
I am planting seeds of hope in the heart of humanity each time I contribute used books to Free Little Libraries.
What are you doing for the health of our planet?
Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention:
This week I am supporting my friend Timmie. One of her living intentions is to be a successful organic gardener. Timmie has volunteered to manage a community organic garden in her local area this year. She loves getting her hands in the soil and watching plants grow. One way that you can help support Timmie’s living intention is to buy organic produce at your local Farmers Market. Invest in your community gardens.
Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
