Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 229TH Day of 2024.

We have $229,000.00 today.
10% savings = $22,900.00
40% taxes = $91,600.00: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support the Uwharrie National Forest. It is in the state of North Carolina. The Uwharrie National Forest was established in 1961. It is a small forest that was administratively combined with three other National Forests in North Carolina. You will find among other wonders Badin Lake, Uwharrie Mountain and one wilderness area to explore. Learn more here.

How will you be spending the remaining $114,500.00 today?

HERE IS MY PLAN: Spotlight Learning

“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”  – John Wooden

How are you showing up in the world?

It’s back to school time! Do you remember having a favorite teacher? About five years ago our neighbor Sam started first grade. However, he went into Mrs. Garcia’s kindergarten classroom and took a seat.  She told him that this year he would have a new teacher and be in a different classroom. “No”, Sam said “you are my teacher, and I am staying here”. Even the Principal could not get Sam to go to the first-grade room. They called his mom. Mr. Crawford the Principal stayed in the kindergarten class while mom and Mrs. Garcia walked Sam to first grade. Day two Sam was back in Mrs. Garcia’s classroom. When asked why he was there Sam said, “you are my teacher, I don’t like Mrs. Shiner.” Day three, instead of just dropping him off, mom walked him to Mrs. Shiner’s room. Under protest Sam did stay in first grade the rest of the week. What if we could choose our teachers? What would you like to learn this school season? Take a class, read a book, or watch a YouTube how to video. How are you showing up in the world?

$100.00: Self-care. These dollars are funding an art class. One of the perks of being an adult is that I can choose what I want to learn! And I love that!

$0: Priceless: Support a teacher with classroom supplies.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” -Zig Ziglar

According to research conducted by Adopt a Classroom, 96% of teachers use their own money to buy classroom supplies. I find that fact sad and unacceptable. Wonder what is possible if we choose to invest in the current generation of school children. These students will be making policy decisions and voting when we are senior citizens. I want to ensure that teachers have the best tools available to nurture critical thinking and problem-solving skills for a better life for us all. If we expect teachers to buy their own supplies, then we need to pay them executive salaries or we can provide the funding for up to date, unlimited, school supplies for every K-12 teacher in the United States. Our future lives and community health depends on what this generation is learning. How can you help support teachers with school supplies? Learn more here.

$43,000.00: I am sponsoring Mrs. Garcia’s Kindergarten Grade classroom through the Adopt a Classroom organization. She can spend these dollars to improve the learning environment with technology or supplies or food for the students. When a teacher has plenty of money for school supplies to help their students learn in the classroom, what else is possible?

$33,000.00: I am donating to the Young Americans Center for Financial Education. The mission of Young Americans Center is to develop the financial literacy of young people.  Imagine being armed with the basic financial knowledge and skills to ensure long term stability for yourself and your family. Most of the programs are offered free of charge. The intention is to educate young people for the good of our communities’ overall well-being. Are you ready for a wow? Look at this.

$37,400.00: I am funding education opportunities for friends and family. You can take a class, hire a coach or buy tools that will help you learn, create or expand your life experiences. Imagine in a year, your life is totally different, and all you changed is the way you ask for it to show up? Are you open to receiving? What are you waiting for? Choose you. Sign up now. How open are you to living in a better world in 2024? Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?

$1000.00: for a date with my husband that includes learning something new about our surrounding community. We are going to a local festival called the Bitterroot Celtic Games and Gathering just for the fun of having an experience together. How loved can you stand it?

FLOW FIVE FRIDAY: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.

$5.00: this week’s five-dollar bill was sent with a note of gratitude to one of my favorite teachers. Back to School season reminds me of Mrs. Windsor. She encouraged me to find my voice through written words. I am grateful that I can read, write and exercise creative expression. These skills were developed over the years thanks to many great instructors. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.

Five increments of time: This week I reminisced with Sam’s mom about the importance of good teachers. Sam starts middle school this year and loves science.  Being there; how does it get better than that? How are you “Flowing Five” this week?

Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time. I am slow dancing with my husband every night to one song. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?

Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.

What if more people chose “Paper-free bills?” When we get our bills online, we use less paper, have less clutter to clear, and can find the data easier when you need to check the details. Get your bills online. What are you doing for the health of our planet?

Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention:

This week I am supporting my friend Kathryn who is asking for support to help the helpers. One of her living intentions is to have respite sites available in each of the 50 United States to give our First Responders and their families safe places to reconnect and rest with purpose. Our lives depend on the health of the First Responders in our communities. One way that you can help support Kathryn’s living intention is to ask me to send you information about the house in Maine that was once owned by a famous Sea Captain. Bookings at this property during September and October 2024 will help a First Responder family in the future. Imagine leaf peeping during the day and being lulled to sleep by ocean waves in the evening. Rest with purpose. Learn something new. Support a First Responder. Ask me to send you more information.

Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
