Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 250th Day of 2024.

We have $250,000.00 today.
10% savings = $25,000.00
40% taxes = $100,000: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support the White Mountain National Forest. Located in the states of New Hampshire and Maine. The White Mountain National Forest was established in 1918. You will find among other wonders Mount Washington, the White Mountain range and part of the Appalachian Trail to explore.  Learn more here.

How will you be spending the remaining $125,000.00 today?

HERE IS MY PLAN: Love Dad

“Let me tell you, he is the dad-shaped hole in my heart. His loss is my scar. But let me tell you something, his memory drives me forward every single day of my life” – Michelle Obama

How are you showing up in the world?

Dad is dancing with the angels. He was an amazing dancer. He and mother would clear the dance floor at events because people loved to watch the magic of their moves together. It was poetry in motion. Four years ago, dad was officially diagnosed with dementia. It seemed that each month after receiving that medical news, more and more of the man we knew slipped into oblivion. This week Dad went to heaven. He is free. You will find him dancing with the angels. How are you showing up in the world?

$100.00: Self-care. I am sorting through the photos of dad that family and friends are sharing this week. I will choose a favorite and have it framed. I find photos provide easy access to remember his lessons of love.  And I love that!

$0: Priceless: Being loved by your dad.

“The greatest gift I ever had came from God, I call him Dad. His love leaves memories that no one can erase. A dad’s love lives on and on and on.” – Richard Puz

Each generation has challenges to face. We make choices, solve problems, and create new possibilities.  As a company executive, my dad led and fostered affirmative action in his workplace. I remember family dinner conversations where dad explained the turmoil and resistance new directives can create. He said that employees were scared to work with people of different races and genders. Dad advocated the importance of being a change agent. He opened our young minds to imagine and take actions to believe in a better world for each person. Today we are invited to rise above the fear mongers, see each other with open hearts and contribute more kindness for all. How are you serving humanity? Be a better human. Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?

$123,900.00 This money is being donated in dad’s name to the American Lung Association. He served as the National President of this nonprofit for several decades as a volunteer while working his full-time paying job for NICOR. The American Lung Association’s mission “is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy, and research.” How open are you to living in a better world in 2024? Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take? Learn more here.

$1000.00: This week’s date includes playing cards for hours and hours. My dad loved a good card game with family and friends. How loved can you stand it?

FLOW FIVE FRIDAY: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.

$5.00: this week’s five dollars were sent to the American Lung Association in my dad’s name. The mailing address is 55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.

Five increments of time:This week I spent time talking with siblings, swapping dad photos and dad stories. Here are some of Dads go to sayings over the years:

  • “Stay out of my tomatoes!”
  • “What have you done for God and Country today?”
  • “Do something for others. Volunteer.”
  • “Be a community leader.”
  • “Provide, guide and protect your family.”
  • “Go Outside.” “Wear sunscreen.”
  • “Work hard and play hard.”
  • “Have fun. Work, Dance, Swim, Fish, Garden, Golf.”
  • “Just go to bed already!”

Being there; how does it get better than that? How are you “Flowing Five” this week?

Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time. I am allowing myself to feel all my feelings and asking my friends to send loving support as I celebrate the man and process my grief.  What are you doing or not doing for self-care?

Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.

We are planting trees in dad’s memory.

What are you doing for the health of our planet?

Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention:

This week I am supporting my mother as she grieves for the loss of her spouse. Her living intention is to be the best person she can be each day. One way that you can help support mom’s living intention is to imagine her finding peace in the days to come.  If you can, call your mom. At minimum, do something you love today. What brings you joy? Do not wait, do some of that today! Dance, play, rest, love, live……

Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
