Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 271st Day of 2024.
We have $271,000.00 today.
10% savings = $27,100.00
40% taxes = $108,400: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support the William B. Bankhead National Forest. Located in the state of Alabama. The Bankhead National Forest was established in 1918. You will find among other wonders over a thousand waterfalls, the Sipsey Fork scenic river and the Sipsey Wilderness area to explore. How will you be spending the remaining $135,500.00 today?
HERE IS MY PLAN: Together for Tomorrow
“Maybe you weren’t born with a silver spoon in your mouth, but like every American, you carry a deed to 635 million acres of public lands. That’s right. Even if you don’t own a house or the latest computer on the market, you own Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and many other natural treasures.” – John Garamendi
Sendi, Max and Helen are all in the fourth grade this school year. They are in Mr. Bosher’s class. Reading homework includes the National Park Mystery Series Books written and illustrated by Aaron Johnson. The first book is about a boy and his friends unravelling a mystery in Rocky Mountain National Park. The children have been enjoying this story and are ecstatic about going on a field trip this week to a local National Forest. They will be identifying trees, participating in a volunteer project with a Forest Ranger, and spending a day out in nature.
Do you know that every fourth grader in the United States is eligible to receive a free Annual Pass to visit National Parks and National Forests. The opportunity is called Every Kid Outdoors. The intention of this offer is to encourage family exploration that creates connections to nature, history, and environmental education. This week I am listening to children read about National Parks and getting excited about going on an outdoor adventure. How are you showing up in the world?
Do you know a fourth-grade teacher or someone who is in fourth grade this year? Send this information forward to others. Learn more here.
$100.00: Self-care. It’s time for me to get recertified in CPR and First Aid. I am prepared for life’s little bumps and scratches. And I love that!
$0: Priceless: National Public Lands
“The meter is ticking (particularly in the face of climate change), so you’ve got to get to as much as you can as fast as you can. I grew up with ‘This Land Is Our Land,’ and public land doesn’t belong to that administration or this one. We want our kids to grow up with real natural places, not just photos of them.” -Robert Redford
Tomorrow is a fee free day at all National Public Lands. These sites include National Parks, National Forests, National Open Spaces and more. Saturday marks the 31st
anniversary of National Public Lands Day. This year’s theme invites us to collaborate, volunteer and build social engagement with nature for future generations: “Together for Tomorrow.” The National Public Lands Day is also known as the largest single-day volunteer opportunity in the United States. “It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits.” There are many ways to participate. You can take virtual tours of parks, or volunteer to count birds, or pick up litter, or choose one of many other ways to acknowledge the gift of nature afforded by our public lands. How are you serving humanity?

$134,400.00 This money is supporting the National Environmental Education Foundation. They are the lead organizer of the annual National Public Land events. Nature is a gift that can help restore our human spirits. I am paying it forward for future generations to enjoy. Learn more here. Wonder what is possible now? How open are you to living in a better world in 2024? Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?
$1000.00: This week’s date with my husband includes volunteering together. Volunteering has been a cornerstone of increasing connection in our relationship. We are better individuals and better as a couple when we choose to spend time together on community projects. How loved can you stand it?
Flow Five Friday: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.
$5.00: this week’s five dollars were sent to the National Environmental Education Foundation. The address is 4301 Connecticut Ave, NW, Suite 160, Washington DC 20008-2326. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.
Five increments of time: This week I played with friends and collaborated on projects together just for the joy of connection. Being there; how does it get better than that? How are you “Flowing Five” this week?
Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time. I am reading my Living Intentions List with more friends. Connection Matters. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?
Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.
When was the last time you took a hike in a National Park, National Forest, or at one of your local parks? Take a hike and reconnect with the abundance of nature. Your wellbeing and the Earth’s depend on our connection. What are you doing for the health of our planet?
Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention:
This week I am supporting my friend Tiffany. Her living intention is to live in a home that is safe from hurricanes. She has lived in Florida her entire life. Her town was in the path of Hurricane Helene. Luckily, she packed up the family and traveled to her husband’s parents’ house in Michigan. One way that you can help support Tiffany’s living intention is to imagine her happy and safely home in Florida after the storms.
Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
