HERE IS MY PLAN: Give Something
““When you care for others, it is infectious, and it can spread to create change and extraordinary impact.” -Dr. Audrey Evans Co-found of the first Ronald McDonald House
How are you showing up in the world?
Each year at this time I support the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in the name of my niece Heather Schuster. The RMHC vision “when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community and, ultimately, the world.” They lighten family burdens by helping them stay close to their child during medical treatments. Heather was at a hospital in Houston waiting for a lung transplant. The family ranch was hours away. RMHC provided housing for the immediate family as well as grandparents, extended family members and friends. Sadly, the lungs did not make it in time. Heather was surrounded by people who loved her when she transitioned from Cystic Fibrosis. The presence of loving family and friends is priceless. Everyone can give something to contribute more hope and love. How are you showing up in the world?
$100.00: Self-care. Supplies to create cards for a local senior center that include a beautiful cut-out heart that can be placed where they can see it every day. The message on each heart reads, “You Are Loved” on the front, and “Love to You” on the back. I feel better when I spend time being creative. Doing something to give others a moment of joy allows me to show up as a better human. I like who I am “being” and it feels expanding. And I love that!
0$ Priceless: Season of Giving
““Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.” –Wendy Mass
Did you know that helping someone else is one of the fastest ways to change fear into love? Close your eyes and take three deep breaths in, then let them out slowly. Open your eyes but look with your heart. Looking you will find people who simply need a smile today or a helping hand as you hold open a door. You can even send loving thoughts across the oceans, imagining a person receiving your loving energy today. Remember that everything is energy. Choose to be kind. Be generous in your thinking and feelings, as well as your actions and being. Know that your Kindness Matters.
Give something to others and your own well being improves. How does it get even better than that? Rumi reminds us that it is as easy as dancing…..
“I sometimes forget
that I was created for Joy.
My mind is too busy.
My Heart is too heavy
for me to remember
that I have been
called to dance
the Sacred dance of life.
I was created to smile
To Love
To be lifted up
And to lift others up.
O’ Sacred One
Untangle my feet
from all that ensnares.
Free my soul.
That we might
Dance
and that our dancing
might be contagious”. (Rumi)
Help someone today. Give someone a smile. Just dance, the energy you generate makes a difference in the world. Respond to life with love.
$172,900.00: I am donating these dollars to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Heather’s name to support other families caring for children with critical medical needs. RMHC is celebrating 50 years of giving support to families. Learn more here.

How open are you to living in a better world in 2024? Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?
$1000.00: This week’s date with my husband includes adding holiday cheer to our home. We are cutting a holiday tree from the Bitterroot National Forest. When you choose to cull a tree from designated permit areas you are contributing to fire mitigation and improving the overall health of the wooded area. In addition, the tree can be 100% recycled at the end of the season. We are sharing an adventure and contributing to the health of a national forest. Intrigued? Learn more here.
The house smells amazing. And I love that!
Flow Five Friday: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.
$5.00: this week’s five-dollar bill was placed inside a book called “What Happens When Someone I Love Has Cancer”, written and illustrated by Sara Olsher. It is a story about how to talk with kids about cancer and things you can do as a family. Someone will find it inside a Free Little Library. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.
Five increments of time: This week I have been busy making cards that include beautiful hearts and a sprinkle of stars inside for seniors to enjoy. Being there; how does it get better than that? How are you “Flowing Five” this week?
Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time.
I am reading and learning more about emotions and how to navigate them. Dr. Emily Nagaoski is a researcher and educator on this topic and one of her findings has been especially helpful for my peace of mind. Dr. Nagaoski writes “The good news is that stress is not the problem. To be “well” is not to live in a state of perpetual safety and calm, but to move fluidly from a state of adversity, risk, adventure, or excitement, back to safety and calm, and out again. Stress is not bad for you; being stuck is bad for you.” I am learning how to appreciate the data from grief stress and get myself unstuck from staying stressed. Now I am allowing stress messages to be received and processed in a timely manner. Not bypassing emotions but feeling all the feelings and letting them go. I am being kinder to myself. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?
Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.
What would a plant do? This question is explored by author Beronda L. Montgomery in her book called Lessons from Plants. Montgomery suggests that we might improve human society by better understanding how plants achieve their purposes in the ecosystem of living on Earth. What if we can be better humans by listening to plants?
What are you doing for the health of our planet?
Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention:
This week I am supporting my friend Dillon. One of Dillon’s Living Intentions is to be a loving mother. Her six-year-old completed chemotherapy this week. Dillon is grateful to be celebrating holidays at home with her family this year. One way that you can help support Dillion’s Living Intention is to hug your children, family or friends and spend time playing with them this season. Life, Be in the joy of It! Volunteer your time or send a donation to a cause that you want to support this season. Every loving thought counts towards a better humanity for us all. Give with your heart.
Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
