Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 31st Day of 2025.

We have $31,000.00 today.
10% savings = $3,100.00
40% taxes = $12,400.00: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support the Dry Tortugas National Park. Located in the state of Florida. Formally known as Fort Jefferson National Monument since 1935, the name changed to the Dry Tortugas National Park in 1992. You will find among other wonders expansive marine ecosystems including coral reefs and sea turtles as well as plenty of shipwrecks to explore. Learn more HERE.

HERE IS MY PLAN: Find Your Humor

“A sense of humor is needed armor. Joy in one’s heart and some laughter on one’s lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life.” Hugh Sidey

World events that feel like scary movie scenes are happening every day. Yes, And….

I challenge you to find and share at least one moment of humor with someone today.

Humor is a superpower. This fact makes me think about my mom and one of her best friends MaryKay. They were friends for over 60 years. One of my favorite tragic to hilarious adventures stories they shared together happened decades ago. Mother and MaryKay went to a wake together. MaryKay was notorious for being late, so they were surprised to be the first guests to arrive at the event. A few family members stood in a small reception line to greet visitors. Mother and MaryKay proceeded to recount lifetime stories about their friend, how much they loved her, how often she made them laugh, and that her friendship was a treasured gift. The family was overwhelmed with joy to hear about how their person made the lives of others better. Next mother and MaryKay walked up to view the body in the open casket at the front of the viewing room. As the two of them peeked into the casket mother let out a tiny gasp and MaryKay burst into giggles. Uncontrollable giggles, so mother began to wail crying sounds to drown the laughter. Inside the casket lay a stranger.  They went to the wrong funeral home. A family member rushed up to give the ladies tissues to dry their eyes. Soon afterwards they said goodbye and thanked the family for sharing their person with the world.  Keeping the mistaken identity of their friend a secret.  This stranger’s memory has been alive in our family stories for over forty years and brings joyful laughter and reminders to be kind. Find humor in situations or share a story that adds comic relief. Robin Wiliams once said that “comedy is acting out optimism.” We need a little more optimism today. Remember that Humanity is a choice. How are you showing up in the world?

$100.00: for self-care. I am printing and framing a photo of my mother laughing at the nursing home. Her head is thrown back, mouth wide open in joy as she is clapping her hands in the air. My sister took this photo as mother and her friend shared a funny memory. Mother often laughed with her friends. And I love that!

$0: Priceless: Humor

“Laugh as much as possible, always laugh. It’s the sweetest thing one can do for oneself and one’s fellow human beings” — Maya Angelou

Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?

$14,400.00: These dollars are supporting the Harvard Medical School research projects on Adult Development. They have expanded the study to include children, women, and others in this multi- generational look at human happiness. The current research director and Professor of Psychiatry Robert Waldinsger said we have learned that “Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too. That, I think, is the surprise.”  Relationships protect our brains and body. And I love that! What makes a good life? You can watch Dr Waldinsger Ted Talk on the benefits of cultivating meaningful connections. Learn more HERE.

What are you contributing to living in a better world in 2025?

$1000.00: for a date with my husband. This week we are focused on telling each other funny stories while enjoying a breakfast date. He makes the best pancakes.

How much love can you stand?

Flow Five Friday: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.

$5.00: this week’s five-dollar bill will be found inside the book called Do Something That Matters by Michael Bungay Stanier. Someone will find this book in a Free Little Library. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.

Five Increments of Time: This week I laughed and laughed with one of my good friends. Reach out and I will tell you the story too! Being there. How are you “Flowing Five” this week?

Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time.

I am remembering joyful moments and sharing funny stories with family and friends. Laughing as I notice absurdities, quirks, or just silly nonsense in my view life events. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?

Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.

This week I am researching possible BioBlitz actions I can participate in this year. BioBlitz is a short-term event created to engage the public in data collection to help learn about the biodiversity of an area. I am discovering ways to help the planet by donating time.  Learn more HERE.

What are you doing for the health of our planet?

Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention

This week I am supporting my friend Lisa who is job hunting after her company was sold and the new owners let people go to dismantle the business. One of Lisa’s Living Intentions is to be in a job that she loves.  You can support Lisa’s Living Intention by imagining she is receiving an offer letter for a better position (one that brings her joy) and for more money than she has ever imagined possible. In the meantime, because being laid off can feel like a scary movie scene too, I invite you to do something that you love today and send a little hope and joy Lisa’s way.

Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
