10% savings = $12,200.00

HERE IS MY PLAN: Humor Me

“Sometimes it feels like the kindness you give goes unseen, but it’s not true. The Universe definitely saw it and it won’t forget to return it back to you.”  — Yung Pueblo

How are you showing up in the world?

I am aware of the political antics, worldwide human atrocities, and the starvation of millions as being power plays. We can do better than this, and I am adding my voice. I stand for a better world for all people. Together we can do better. In this week’s podcast episode, we discuss humanity’s evolution from where we are today, to what we are creating next. I am aware of the upheavals. I also see people activated voicing their conscious NO’s and walking together demanding better for all people. Today I am focused on kindness with humor. Laughter helps regulate our nervous systems and opens our hearts.

Two years ago, a kindness trend was started by a boy named Colton when he was in the fourth grade. He is one of the students that I read with each week over zoom. His teacher challenged the class to create kindness projects that can make others feel good. Colton wrestled with this assignment for weeks. He wanted to do something that he enjoys versus just doing something nice. Together we brainstormed and wrote a list of things that Colton loves to do. I invited him to go do some of those things and think about how he could include other people in his fun. From that exercise Colton created his kindness project called “Joke of the Day.” His intention is to help others feel good by sharing a laugh. He is generating more smiles in the world, one joke at a time. Now in the sixth grade, Colton continues his kindness quest by sharing jokes with friends and family. The following is one of Colton’s current jokes.

Colton: “Did you hear that my friend Jack brought a ladder to school?

Me: “No,” Why did Jack bring a ladder to school?

Colton: Because ladder’s help you “step” into success!”

I am laughing with children weekly.

How are you showing up in the world?

$100.00: self-care. I am buying fresh, new bathroom towels. A buttery, happy, yellow color.   And I love that!

$0: Priceless: Belly laughs with a child.

“When you have a heartfelt belly laugh, all parts of your being – the physiological, the psychological, the spiritual – they all vibrate in one single tune. They all vibrate in harmony.”  — Rajneesh

It has been said that laughter is the best medicine. I find children’s jokes to be a delightful source of funny material. The following story is one of my favorites found at the ‘Children Jokes Place.’ Even though I know how it ends, I find myself laughing every time I read it or tell the story to a friend. The story goes something like this:

“Sally Smith, a single mom, had two little boys ages 7 and 8, who were excessively mischievous. They were always getting into trouble and their mom knew that if any mischief occurred in town, her sons would get the blame.

Sally heard that a minister in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The minister agreed and suggested that he see each boy separately. So, the mom sent her 7-year-old first, in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

The minister, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, “Where is God?”

The boy’s mouth dropped open, but he made no response. The minister repeated the question. “Where is God?” Again, the little boy made no attempt to answer. So, the minister raised his voice and shook his finger in the boy’s face as he bellowed, “Where is God!?”

The boy screamed and bolted from the room. He ran home and hid in his closet. His older brother found him in the closet, and asked, “What happened?”

The younger brother replied, “We are in big trouble this time! God is missing and they think we did it!”

What if we all committed to telling someone a children’s friendly joke once a day? I wonder what all that joyful laughter can create? Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?

$59,900.00 I am sponsoring school lunches and laughter yoga training for our local school district. Imagine generations learning to laugh on purpose as a stress reduction method. How good can you stand it? Every time you joyfully laugh with a child, you will show up in life as a better human.

$1000.00: for a date with my husband that includes our annual May Movie Marathon tradition. Starting on May 4th, we watch a Star Wars movie every night. May the Force be with you!

How loved can you stand it?

I am listening to children read and tell me jokes. Belly laughing with children regulates my nervous system to pure joy.  What are you doing or not doing for self-care?

Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.

“If the bees disappear, we’ll all be stung.”-David Suzuki

Did you hear that New York is planting 50 thousand native violets to help the bees and butterflies this year? Once a landfill site, now Saten Island Park will provide pollinators with an opportunity to thrive. LEARN MORE HERE!

What are you doing for the health of our planet?

Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention

This week I am supporting my friend Ruthie. One of her Living Intentions is to create routine systems that make life easier. Her goal is to make more room in her life to do the things she wants to do versus being overwhelmed with the ‘have to’ things. Moreover, Ruthie wants to help other people have more peace in living their lives! You can support her Living Intention of choosing more joy in her life by creating easy to follow routine systems or perhaps you can check out her new book called From Overwhelm to on Purpose: Time-Saving Habits for Women Who Do Too Much.  LEARN MORE HERE!
