Inspiration: Happy Friday!
Today is the 199th Day of 2025.

We have $199,000.00 today.
10% savings = $19,900.00
40% taxes = $79,600.00: This week I am expressing gratitude for these tax dollars being spent to support Mammoth Cave National Park located in the state of Kentucky. Mammoth Cave officially became a National Park in 1941. You will find among other wonders the Green and Nolin Rivers, Mammoth Cave the longest known cave system in the world, as well as Flint Ridge Cave to explore. How will you be spending the remaining $99,500.00 today?

HERE IS MY PLAN: Unexpected Time

“You can’t add days to your life. But you can add life to your days.” -Hidde Douna

How are you showing up in the world?

Stop and be still. What if bold action in this moment is you doing nothing? There is a vulnerability in being still or in being the person who shows up in life’s ordinary routines. Being at peace with doing nothing or discovering the luxuries in your usual tasks takes courage and resilience. And when you are open to knowing the message of quiet, the next level of life gifts is revealed.

Each month this summer I am scheduling a day long break from electronics. That’s right, I am practicing the luxury of having scheduled space to be free from electronics. I invite you to consider joining me in unplugging for an entire day. Turn off the television. Turn off your computer.  Put your phone away. Create a day of play or rest or family fun. Imagine giving yourself permission to do nothing for 24 hours. Research indicates both mental and physical benefits to scheduling, planning and then being out of your normal routines for at least one day a month. When we take a significant pause from daily routines we reduce depression, anxieties, high blood pressure and other health triggers. Invite others to play with you on your designated day off or have a solo retreat. Science is clear that people who schedule and plan to take time off regularly create measurable hope and are more productive both at work and home.  Even the anticipation of a day off generates good feelings. I have been practicing for several years now to unplug daily for at least 90minutes during daytime hours. Last summer I added at least one day a month to unplug for 24 hours from all electronics.

Imagine that you unexpectedly are granted an entire day to play. Here are the guidelines for this gift of a “free day.”

1.    No work projects

2.    No communication electronics – including phones, computers, iPad, television, etc.

3.    Yes, you can spend the day solo.

4.    Yes, you can invite someone to join you if that works better for you to enjoy the gift of time.

5.    Yes, you can spend your “Surprise Day Off” funds to expand your experience today. (This is a nudge to create such a fund in your portfolio)

6.    Yes, preplanning for a surprise day/time off due to weather, health, appointment cancelations, burnout prevention, etc. is highly encouraged.

The invitation is for you to be present and prepared to lean into the gift of today. What are you choosing? How are you showing up in the world?

$100.00: self-care. I am buying books that my friends have written this year. You will find me reading them on my day off. And I love that!

$0: Priceless: Play Dates

“Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.”-Maya Angelou

In these challenging times, who are you being and what are you contributing to support humanity? Play is one of the key factors that allows us to experience lives that we absolutely love. When was the last time you had a solo “playdate” or spent a day playing with people you love? Reclaim your wellbeing. Go play!

$98,400.00: These dollars are supporting summer adventure for friends and family to try new experiences in their local communities; secure a stack of books to read; learn a new skill or create a mini “daycation” to enjoy new things near home. Some of the best life adventures reveal themselves when we allow ourselves to lighten up, rest, be still, be kind, play and be open to focus on “what is working” in our lives. Be curious, unplug, do something new or in a different way. Schedule and plan more playdates, your health depends on it! Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?

$1000.00: for a date with my husband that includes creating a current list of local adventures to experience together. How loved can you stand it?

Flow Five Friday: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love, and contribution to wellbeing.

$5.00: this week’s five-dollar bill is inside the library book titled: On Looking by Alexandra Horowitz. She walked 11 times around the same New York block with 11 different experts. Horowitz experienced eleven different local adventures in the exact same space. Books are adventures worth my time.  I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.

Five increments of time: This week I listened to Breanna read from her mom’s Nancy Drew collection. She is currently reading Nancy Drew: Girl Detective. Her mom is so excited that her daughter is experiencing these beloved characters through the books that she loved as a child. Being there; how does it get better than that? How are you “Flowing Five” this week?

Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time.

I am scheduling a 24hr block of time once each month to unplug from electronics and do something new to play and or rest. I am making simple adventures or “daycations” a priority in my life. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?

Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.

“One individual cannot possibly make a difference, alone. It is individual efforts, collectively, that make a noticeable difference. All the difference in the world!”- Dr. Jane Goodall

In support of Plastic Free July, read this book with a child: Ducks Overboard! A True Story of Plastic in Our Oceans by Markus Motum. Take a three minute break and watch an animated version by Christiane Dorion found on You Tube: Ducks Overboard! A True Story of Plastic in Our Oceans

What are you doing for the health of our planet?

Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention

This week I am supporting my friend Nina whose granddaughter survived the Camp Mystic flash flood experience. One of Nina’s living intentions is to be a loving Yaya (grandmother). One way that you can help support Nina’s living intention is to imagine her visiting all her grandchildren in person this summer. Her family is spread across three states. Or perhaps you can go on a local adventure with your loved ones and make joyful memories together. What if we all choose more time to connect with people who matter?

Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
