HERE IS MY PLAN: World Peace
“Peace is not something you wish for, it is something you make, something you are, something you do and something you give away.” –Robert Fulghum
How are you showing up in the world?
I feel the shifts in universal energies. Patriarchal systems are clawing to control the masses by silencing freedom of speech and other society privileges. Yes, I am confronted with and acknowledge the rampage of fears that are being released by other people. And I also choose to expand my inner peace. Daily I ground myself in love and show up in life with the intention to be kinder. Yes, kinder to myself, kinder to others, and kinder to our planet. Not bypassing the terrible awful that is happening but also spending most of my time focused on both what is working in life and what I can do or be to contribute more love now. This week the school children have been gearing up to participate in World Clean-up Day events. The 5th grade teacher Mrs. Beam asked her students to find or create an event to support World Clean-up Day which is held the third week in September. This year I am reading weekly with two 5th graders. Both are in Mrs. Beams’ class. Their cleanup event is at a local park this Saturday. They made flyers and social media posts about meeting tomorrow at the park to pick up trash together. Tom’s mom is an employee at Waste Management and arranged for a trash/recycling truck to be in the parking lot for the children to explore. The 2025 World Clean-up Day theme is “Uniting for a Waste Free Planet!” I am showing up with the intention to be kinder by reading with children and helping them with a school event to clean up trash at a local park this weekend. How are you showing up in the world?
$100.00: Self-care. The mornings are cold enough that I need to wear gloves when walking the dogs in the dewy fields. I am buying a few pairs of gloves to keep my hands warm. And I love that!
$0: Priceless: Peace in Action
“You may say I am a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you will join us. And the world will live as one.” –John Lennon
We are certainly living in interesting times. This week police officers in Pennsylvania were killed when they were serving a warrant and others were critically wounded. I know this grief. My cousin Adam was killed serving a warrant during his rookie year as a police officer. The unrest created by these events also provides invitations for us to pivot our focus on what is going well in life. Hope is cultivated when we connect with our inner peace. Artist and philosopher Humberto Braga’s ideas regarding our responsibility to generate inner peace inspires me to reflect a little deeper on what I am choosing to spend my time doing or being these days. Braga wrote the following:
“The eternal truth remains. You must prioritize peace, healing, harmony, and connection within yourself if you want to see it manifest throughout society. No agency or institution will ever do it for you, and we cannot afford to delay it any longer. When’s the last time you took time off to do nothing but feel and deeply connect? Feel your breath, your body, your suppressed emotions, your surroundings, and beyond. Listen to the divine wisdom which speaks to you in the calm stillness. Drop all pretenses and simply be with what is. You know what will happen if you don’t? You will remain false, stressed, distracted, and unhealthy, imagining that living this way is somehow keeping you safe. You will spend each day absent from yourself, having gained nothing of lasting significance, acting as little more than a messy bundle of habits and memories. You can pull yourself away from the hypnotic social brainwashing which objectifies you and the world as mere externalized commodities. You have the capacity for so much more. We did not evolve to be constantly busy, drugged, disassociated, and stressed. You must prioritize feeling the connection to your present experience. You must cultivate an inner awareness to bring yourself back when you’re out of alignment. You must clear away the energy of others you have taken on. Give yourself the gift of your wholeness – completely and unapologetically. Leave your familiar surroundings if need be. Go where your authenticity and sensitivity is celebrated. You must feel to heal. Your pain is not a burden to be ignored; it is a testament of your enduring strength which deserves to be cared for. Being sensitive is not a weakness; it’s the most courageous thing you can do in an insensitive world. Your healing is not an occasional luxury; it’s the foremost priority for your soul. Remember what truly matters.”
In all of life’s moments I am choosing to connect with my inner peace. It is my “North Star” or compass that guides me to respond to life situations with love. Everyone can contribute to peace and make a difference. Remember that when we help one person, we generate peace for all. How does it get better than that? Do something kind today.
Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take?
$129,900.00: This money is being donated to support programs with Clean Trails. According to Steve Jewett and Bill Willoughby co-founders of Clean Trails, “World Cleanup Day is the world’s largest one-day civic action to engage more than 180 countries to tackle the global waste crisis. World Cleanup Day is not just about cleanups. It’s a strong and unique network of doers who share the vision of the waste-free world and believe that together we can clean up the world from waste.” They believe that most people want to do the right things and will rise to the occasion when offered a little encouragement and role modeling. They see outdoor spaces lovingly cared for by stewards of litter solutions. I wonder what the 5th graders are doing in your community this weekend. Respond to life with love. Repeat. What would it take? Learn more here: Clean Trails
$1000.00: This week’s date includes going to a local rodeo to watch the barrel races. How much love can you stand?
Flow Five Friday: Current “real” life expressions of gratitude, love and contribution to well-being.
$5.00: this week’s five dollars were sent to Clean Trails, a 5013C organization for Service Impact. The mailing address is 1312 17th Street, Denver, CO 80202. I am choosing to be the energy of what works in life.
Five increments of time: I am Dream Lifting a “Do the Thing Challenge” for a friend to support the dreams of strangers. Because I know that Peace begins with you and me showing up for others. Being there; how does it get better than that? How are you “Flowing Five” this week?
Well-Being: Something that I am doing or not doing for self-care in real time.
I start and end my day with meditation. Each conscious breath allows me to connect and expand my inner peace. What are you doing or not doing for self-care?
Planet Awareness: Contributing to the health of Earth.
“Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans.” –Jacques Yves Cousteau
I am participating in World Clean Up Day with 5th graders.
What are you doing for the health of our planet?
Hold Space or Contribute to a Friends Life Intention
This week I am supporting Tom and Krissi. They are both children that I read schoolbooks with weekly. One of their living intentions is to live in a world with less trash. Their 5th grade class project for World Clean Up day is to pick up trash at a local park on Saturday. One way that you can help support their living intention is to participate in your local World Clean Up activities. Or do something kind for someone else today.
Choose joy. Be kind. Love others and strive to be a better human. What would it take?
